Tutors International Report Sharp Rise in Private Tuition Enquiries from the Middle East

Thursday, November 14th, 2013

Rising demand in the Middle East - leading private tuition provider, Tutors International, has reported a significant rise in the number of tutoring enquiries from families in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

More families in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Dubai are seeking the services of private tutors according to a statement published by Tutors International today.

Adam Caller, who founded Tutors International in 1999, said of the rise, “While I’m not entirely clear on why we’ve seen so many more enquiries lately from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the families I’ve spoken to have expressed a wish to home school their children to ensure a better, broader, more global education than they would receive at school.”

Mr Caller went on to say that the academic standards in schools in the Middle East are very high, but that they can tend towards an insular curriculum and a heavy focus on their own country.

“The pupils we are tutoring are destined for prominent leadership roles in civil departments and national and global corporations, and therefore a holistic, broad education is essential to provide them with the skills they need to succeed in their future roles.”

There is still a polarisation in Middle Eastern attitudes - some families are conservative and keep details of private tuition very private, while others are more Westernized and eager to show off their retinue.

Mr Caller continued: “Unless private tutoring can provide a better education than a school can there is no point to it, but with the increase in Middle Eastern placements it’s apparent that parents recognise the value of a tutor spending more time with a student, to provide a broader education, a more in-depth education, and a more tailored approach to learning that delights and invigorates the student. And the best of both worlds comes from the increasing number of clients we have who have hired multiple tutors through us to run their own family private school.”
