The leading private tutoring firm posted the new vacancy this week, on behalf of a very private family in Milan seeking a British or American tutor to provide after-school support for two children.
The family’s two children attend an American-curriculum school in Milan, and their parents wish to employ an exceptional private tutor for after-school support: helping the students to fully understand the day’s subjects; to improve their English skills; and help to prepare for important assignments and exams.
The ideal candidate would be experienced in the IB system, have experience of working in the US high school, and demonstrate knowledge of the US curriculum. Adam Caller, founder of Tutors International, commented on the expected qualities of the successful candidate: “Ideally, candidates will have teaching experience of the IB High Level of instruction – in particular mathematics and history - but also of the IB Standard Level in biology and English language and literature. The tutor should be organized, kind, fun, inspiring, efficient and flexible in their work. The role would suit someone physically fit, energetic and lively, a broad and interesting person who has a wide range of interests they would love to share with the children."
Although this tutoring position is primarily after school hours, the tutor will be expected to use him or her free time productively. This role is a good fit for someone who perhaps wants to write a book, study at the local university, or take the opportunity to learn Italian. It should be noted that the tutor should be prepared to be accompanied by one or more of the family’s security personnel during educational trips, and that discretion and a high regard for privacy and safety is essential.
Mr Caller added: “This placement provides a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to live and work in a vibrant, exciting European city for two years. An attractive salary of £81,000 plus apartment and use of a car will no doubt lead to a large number of applications from high quality educators. I encourage candidates to read the job specification on the website carefully, and take time to prepare a truly outstanding application."
