One student turned C and D grades into A grades in every subject over a 12-week period of private tuition for IGCSE.
British system A2-Level, AS-Level and IGCSE results are published, and leading worldwide private tutoring organisation, Tutors International, report outstanding results for privately tutored exams.
Adam Caller, who founded Tutors International in 1999, was delighted with the results so far, “We’ve not had the results in from all our students, but the ones who have contacted us so far have all done brilliantly in their exams. Well done to the students and their tutors.”
One example of a tuition success is for a US student who switched to the British education system 5 years ago, and has been home-schooled since then. The student has a demanding extra-curricular timetable, being a competitive sportswoman and heavily involved in her local church.
Tutors International coached the teenager through 1 A2-Level and 3 AS-Levels over the course of a single year. Study time was limited to just 3 or 4 hours each day to enable the student adequate time to pursue her other interests. She was awarded an A grade in the A2-Level exam, and an A and two Bs in the AS-Levels.
“Next year, the student plans to retake the AS-Levels, and add two more A2-Level subjects. She will apply to one of the top Ivy League colleges in the States,” said Mr Caller.
Another example of private tuition success comes from the UK, where Tutors International were asked to tutor a teenage boy through his IGSCE exam. The student did not get good grade in his mock exams, attaining C and D grades. The pupil was underachieving at his private school as a result of bullying, and when his mock grades were announced in March, his parents removed him from the school.
Intensive home-schooling with a full-time private tutor for 8 hours each day for 12 weeks resulted in nine IGCSE grades of A*, and As for Latin and Further Maths (FSMQ) in every subject.
“It was a very intensive period of tutoring, but not uncommon in turning around students grades between their mocks and the real exams. This student relished the hard work, being keen to do well in his exams and enjoying the time spent with his tutor where he could finally apply his academic skills in a safe, supportive environment. Turning an F grade in his Latin Literature mock exam into an A is a remarkable achievement.” commented Mr Caller.
The student’s parents are considering home tutoring for the boy’s A2-Levels after seeing the success from this 3-month period of private tuition.
Other success include a home-schooled student in Bermuda who achieved all As and Bs in her IGCSEs; and a rise in grades from DDU at AS-Level to BBC at A2-Level from another privately tutored student. These are outstanding results for privately tutored exams.
