It’s been a while since my last blog! The summer was a busy and productive time. I worked as many hours as possible through an agency, earning money while gaining valuable experience at a seaside restaurant and festivals. By the end of summer, I was ready to dive into my second year at nautical college.
When summer ended and Vlissingen quietened down after the tourist season, I decided to return to Domino’s Pizza, where I worked right after School at Sea. It’s been a nostalgic and enjoyable experience to be back, and I quickly settled into the rhythm of things. The camaraderie at the branch is fantastic, and it’s been great reconnecting with the team while staying busy. Alongside this, I’ve enjoyed volunteering with the Helena (below is a picture of me sanding the leeboard) and finding time to relax by taking drives in my car.
Looking ahead, my focus is now on securing an internship for my third year of college. I’m exploring opportunities with companies in my field and am excited about the prospects for hands-on learning. Before starting the internship, I’ll be preparing for my Operational Level (OL) exams. Some will take place in January and February, with the majority in June and July. It’s a significant milestone, and I’m ready to tackle it with determination.
As 2024 comes to a close, I’m feeling positive and motivated about the year ahead. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had this year and am looking forward to what 2025 will bring as I continue working towards my goals.
Best wishes,
Tobias
