Nampet, a bright student from East Anglia, England, continues to excel academically and artistically, supported by the Tutors International Mentorship Programme. In her latest blog post, Nampet reflects on her eventful Year 10, which has flown by as she prepares for the upcoming summer break and the completion of her GCSEs next year.
A highlight of her term was a field trip to the Peak District with her GCSE geography group, where they studied the River Dane. Despite the muddy terrain and the challenge of hiking, the experience was rewarding, offering beautiful views and valuable data collection opportunities. This hands-on learning was complemented by an enjoyable stay at the Ravenstor Youth Hostel, known for its hearty breakfasts.
Nampet also shares her progress in the UK Schools Challenge competition, where her team reached the quarter-finals. Although they narrowly missed out on advancing further, the competition was a valuable learning experience, enhancing her knowledge and leadership skills.
In addition to her academic achievements, Nampet completed her first work experience placement at Lambda Films, a film and animation company in Norwich. This experience provided her with insights into the professional world of film production and allowed her to develop essential soft skills such as teamwork and communication.
It was eye-opening to realise just how much work goes into setting up a professional studio shoot; how time-consuming it is to adjust the lighting and filming conditions to the exacting requirements of a client. This provided me with firsthand insights into the professional world - I really enjoyed pushing the camera dolly around and getting hands-on with some serious equipment.
As she looks forward to her next placement at Aviva, Nampet is also preparing for her Grade 8 ballet exam, a significant milestone in her long-standing dedication to dance. Moreover, she has recently joined the RAF cadets, broadening her horizons and gaining new skills.
With her first set of summer exam results in, Nampet is pleased with her performance, particularly in Latin and Computer Science. As she plans for sixth form, she is excited about the future and the possibilities it holds.
