Case Studies: Europe, Full Time, Special Needs

As well as conducting customised recruitment processes for each Client enquiry, our ability to innovate in the tutoring market has set us apart from other high-end tutoring companies. Tutors International supplies elite tutors onboard yachts and superyachts. We’ve recruited micro-school coordinators in the Puerto-Rican mountains, specialist SEN tutors, and academic-vocational hybrid tutors.

This highly specialist service, tailored approach, and exclusive client base earned Tutors International the epithet, ‘the Dom Perignon of tutoring companies’ (The Good Schools Guide). TI Tutors and Clients alike have shared why we are deserving of this title.

Here you can read through some case studies of exemplary private tuition that we have assigned all over the world:

Background
This US family wished to change their lifestyle and travel in Europe. This meant homeschooling their children, two of whom were dyslexic, while they travelled.
Outcome
The family were so impressed by the progress of their children out of traditional school that they retained the services of Tutors International for an additional two years after they returned.

Boy (9)
Circumstances
Instead of School, Travel, Special Needs, Unhappy at School
Background
What started as a short term summer appointment supporting this mildly dyslexic boy on vacation in Turkey, soon turned into a full homeschooling role when it became evident to all just how much happier the boy was in the care of a Tutor.
Outcome
After two years homeschooling, during which the boy's self-confidence and self-esteem had been completely restored, the boy started a new school.

London

Circumstances
Instead of School, Travel, Special Needs, Relocation or New School
Background
This family had decided to relocate to London for a year, with periods of travel and exploration. The youngest children, one of whom is dyslexic, were taken out of school during the period and homeschooled by one of our Tutors.
Outcome
The Tutor needed to work in concert with the children's schools to ensure that they would reintegrate smoothly upon their return. The one-on-one help with the dyslexic boy improved his reading, writing and self-confidence immeasurably.

Girl (18), Girl (13), Boy (15)
Circumstances
Instead of School, Special Needs, Academic Concerns, Exam Preparation
Background
The eldest girl had failed to gain the grades she needed in her AS levels and was therefore at risk of not achieving the overall grades she needed for her first choice University. Her brother was preparing for GCSEs at the same time, and the younger girl had some mild dyslexia that merited occasional support.
Outcome
By far the greatest emphasis of the Tutor's work was with the eldest girl, who was to be homeschooled instead of attending a private sixth form college in London. By the end of the first term, the courses taken so far had been reviewed and the girl scored 3 As in her modules. At the end of the year the girl's final grades were AAB and she was accepted to her first choice University. The younger brother and the sister also thrived with the Tutor's support.

Boy (6)
Circumstances
After School Support, Unhappy at School, Special Needs
Background
The boy was not doing well at school and so the Client sought a Tutor to supplement his learning. Our Tutor discovered what he thought to be an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, later confirmed by our Educational Psychologist.
Outcome
Once the reason for the boy's difficulty at school was understood we were able to make excellent progress by adjusting materials to fit the boy's learning style until an appropriate school was found for the boy.

Meribel

Boy (15), Boy (9), Girl (13), Girl (6)
Circumstances
After School Support, Special Needs
Background
This was a complex position which began when the eldest boy was 10. He had a complex learning difference that affected his cognitive reasoning. Although the initial role was to help the older boy, the role evolved into one which supported all the children.
Outcome
An experienced educator, someone familiar with educational theory and willing to encourage non-traditional pathways, was needed. The boy was able to catch up with his peers and his sisters are now thriving too.
